2. Hero Overview:

Shendelzare was a Warden, betrayed and killed by Mortred who she trusted in. With her dying breath, she prayed to Elune to grant her a chance to avenge her death. Though her body died, her relentless spirit lived on. Her very presence is an example for her allies, while her enemies fear her determination. Using powers of the spirit world, she can blast her enemies with pure magical energy and reverse positions with others.

Vengeful Spirit is one of the best support heroes in the game. She has her bread-and-butter stun/nuke, which is her main weapon. Her ultimate is extremely versatile and can be used for ganking, initiating, saving allies/yourself. These two skills alone make VS a very powerful hero. Command Aura, provides a damage increase for your allies, gives her some UMPH late-game. Terror also gives Shandelzare more supporting power as a armor-reduction for your enemies means your late-game DPSers can whack away.

However, she isn't without weakness. Her low range means she's prone to harassment and may have difficulty carrying. Low HP and being AGI means she will have a hard time against nukers; and although she has Swap, she lacks a solid escape skill. Lack of teamwork also is deadly to Shandelzare, as you may sometimes land the perfect swap with no one to support you.

Most people try to turn Vengeful into a carry hero, a.k.a.damage-dealer. While this may work in pub games, higher-level matches utilize Vengeful as what she was born to be: support. This build will be most useful in a team-environment. You won't be racking up the kills, but you can lead your team to victory. Swap and Magic Missile will be the best thing you can offer your team.

3. Hero History

Shendelzare's Warcraft origins start from Maiev, the Warden. She swore to hunt Illidan and capture him after he had been freed from his prison. Maiev could call upon her emotions of hatred towards Illidan to transform into the Avatar of Vengeance (which is Spectre's model). The Avatar of Vengeance could summon units called the Spirit of Vengeance. This is where Shendelzare's origins come from. Her model and her name were taken from the Warcraft lore.

II. Skill Information

Magic Missile

A magic missile is thrown at an enemy unit, causing damage. Stuns for 1.75 seconds.

Level 1 – 100 (75) damage
Level 2 – 175 (131) damage
Level 3 – 250 (187) damage
Level 4 – 325 (244) damage

Mana cost: 95 / 110 / 125 / 140. 10 second cooldown at all levels. 600 casting range.

Terror

Shendelzare lets loose a wicked cry, terrorizing nearby enemy units. Their armor and damage are reduced.

Level 1 – Reduces base armor by 2 and damage by 5%
Level 2 – Reduces base armor by 3 and damage by 10%
Level 3 – Reduces base armor by 4 and damage by 15%
Level 4 – Reduces base armor by 5 and damage by 20%

40 mana cost and 15 second cooldown at all levels. Affects units in a 700 AoE.

Note: Terror only reduces BASE damage, along with damage gained from stats and stat items. Direct damage items such as Radiance, MKB, Divine Rapier, etc. are not affected.

Command Aura - Passive

Increases nearby units damage.

Level 1 - 12% damage.
Level 2 - 20% damage.
Level 3 - 28% damage.
Level 4 - 36% damage.

Note: Command Aura only increases BASE damage, along with damage gained from stats and stat items. Direct damage items such as Radiance, MKB, Divine Rapier, etc. are not affected.

Nether Swap

Instantaneously swaps positions with a target Hero.

Level 1 – 600 range
Level 2 – 900 range
Level 3 – 1200 range

Mana cost: 100 / 150 / 200. 45 second cooldown at all levels.

21-25. Stats

This build focuses on early game domination with Magic Missile, and late-game support with Terror and Command Aura. Magic Missile is always maxed first, as this is your primary skill. Swap is gotten whenever possible, and Terror is taken up last when the team's DPSers are ready to eat the enemies up.

Stats are gotten early game for more HP and mana. I chose to take Stats over Command Aura for two reasons. It adds very little damage which is almost negligible early game as you will be last-hitting, and stats are MUCH better as it gives you mana for Magic Missile, HP for the fragile VS, and whatever damage Command Aura adds is albeit covered up by the extra AGI.

However, there are times when Command Aura should be chosen instead of Stats early. These are cases when your lane-mate has a disable, but relies on his/her normal attack to do damage. This works if your lane combo relies on aggression to take control.

III. Item Build

1. Main Item Build
- Tangos and Clarities

Ancient Tango of Essifation - 90 gold, 2 charges
Heals 7 HP per second for 25 second. 175 HP total healed.

Clarity Potion - 100 gold
Regenerates 100 mana over 30 seconds.

- Bracers

Circlet of Nobility - 185 gold
Gauntlets of Strength - 150 gold
Bracer Recipe Scroll - 175 gold

18 STR - 342 HP
9 AGI - 9% IAS, 1.26 Armor
9 INT - 117 Mana

Total Cost: 510 gold each, 1530 gold total

- Boots of Travel

Boots of Speed - 500 gold
Boots of Travel Recipe Scroll - 2,200 gold

+90 movement speed
Active: Teleport to allied unit or building, 60 Second Cooldown, 3 Second Cast Time

Total cost: 2,700 gold

* Why only these items?

Vengeful's role early game is to gank enemies to keep their levels down, and to make sure your late-game heroes can farm. Travels gives you the ability to jump lane seamlessly to aid your allies. The bracers are for extra HP and mana, which you need to take some punishment after swapping, and mana to swap and stun. For early regen, tangos should be enough providing you don't rambo into the enemies. The amount will vary depending on your playstyle, but tangos are simply THE best early game regen out there.

* Why not Vanguard?

Vanguard is easily assembled, provides almost the same HP as the bracers, gives damage block and regen, and saves up on slots! But even with these nice attributes, the bracers still win. First, you can't grab a Ring of Health right off the bat in a 5on5 match. If you go Stout Shield - Tangos, this leaves you low on HP until you get your Vitality Booster, which has to be gotten AFTER the RoH. Simply put, you get too little early game compared to the bracers.

Also, you get no mana from Vanguard, which is one the important things that Vengeful needs. Not to mention Vanguard costs a near 700 gold more than the Bracers. VS also doesn't fill up on slots until very-late game, so we can abuse these little items. The regen early game is provided by tangos, and is enough for Shendelzare.

* Why Travels instead of Treads?

I for one believe that Travel > Treads always. The only exception is Furion, because he has a Teleport skill. BoT provides great map control, mobility, and the movespeed is sexy. Treads on the other hand, only offer IAS. Moreover, Vengeful needs to be able to gank efficiently and quickly, so BoT gives her the ability to jump from lane to lane.

2. Optional Items

- Empty Bottle

Empty Bottle - 700 gold

Has 3 charges, each charge heals 200 HP and 100 mana over 3 seconds.
Can store runes for a maximum of 2 minutes.
Bottle with Rune returns a bottle with 2 charges after use.
Refillable via fountain.

This little baby here solves your mana problems. With proper ward placement (discussed later on), you should grab those runes and gank. And with Bottle's rune-refill functionality, your mana should be at decent levels during mid-game.

As seen above, I'm at half HP and encounter a Regeneration rune. Normally, one would it at once, but with the bottle, we can abuse this. In the second panel, I use my two remaining charges to regain HP/mana (make sure to wait for each charge to finish, since the bottle heal may overlap. The next panel shows me storing the rune. The rune lasts for 2 minutes in the bottle until you use it. If you haven't used it after 2 minutes, it automatically uses the rune stored. DD/haste/invisibility runes are best used to gank, while in this case I used the regen rune after a gank. I've got a full bottle and ready to gank again.

Note: Since 6.44, a rune-refill only gives back a bottle with 2 charges. The bottle strategy still works, but you may have to be more wary of your mana.

Another bottle tip is to be able to stack 2 runes. Runes spawn every 2 minutes gametime. So you could take a rune at 11:55, and if you're lucky a new rune could spawn on your spot at 12:00. Haste and DD anyone?

- Helm of Dominator

Helm of Iron Will - 950 gold
Mask of Death - 900 gold

15% Lifesteal
+10 Damage
+5 Armor
Activate: Dominate Creep for 20 minutes, 300 Second Cooldown, 200 Mana Cost

Total Cost: 1850 gold

A different, yet working item for Vengeful. The part come in nice little components, and the lifesteal is pretty nice. Dominating creeps is pretty useful for a ganking/pushing team, since an extra stun from a Centaur/Furbolg is sweet. Best used if your team lacks some natural stuns, or if you're planning to push early. Cherry on top? Dominated creeps can't be Midased.
Also, they can’t be seen onthe mini-map, so they are perfect for ganking.

3. Late-game Items

- The Butterfly

Eaglehorn - 3300 gold
Quarterstaff - 900 gold
Butterfly Recipe Scroll - 1800 gold

+30 Damage
+30 Agility
30% attack speed
30% Evasion

Total Cost: 6000 gold

One of the BEST late game items on Vengeful. I mean, it's called THE Butterfly, the only item with a THE. Other than that, the 30% evasion increases your survival, you get wicked amounts of armor which boosts your EHP (effective hitpoints), +60 damage and +60% attack speed means you're turned into a DPS/support monster. Not only that, the 30 agility that Butterfly gives is boosted by Command Aura.

Note: Evasion does not stack. The highest evasion is the one that is used. Having a Butterfly and a Radiance does not give 38% evasion, only 30%.

- Stygian Desolator

x2 Mithril Hammer - 3220
Stygian Desolator Recipe Scroll - 1200

+60 Damage
Passive: Corruption, -6 Armor to enemy target, lasts 5 seconds.

Total Cost: 4420 gold

Amazing item which boosts Vengeful's ability to support. Yes, Stygian is a support item. On average, a hero's armor by late game ranges from 5-15, and when Stygian is combined with Terror, your DPSers WILL put the pain on whoever you hit. Get this item if you don't like Butterfly, or can't farm well enough to get your Eaglehorn.

- Assault Cuirass

Chain Mail - 600 gold
Plate Mail - 1400 gold
Hyperstone - 2300 gold
Assault Cuirass Recipe Scroll - 2000 gold

+10 Armor
+5 Armor Aura (allies)
-5 Armor Aura (enemies)
+40% Attack Speed
+15% Attack Speed Aura

Total Cost: 6320 gold

This item is the SECKS despite its crappy icon. +15 armor to you is roughly 30% damage reduction, and 55% IAS is nothing to scoff at. The armor/IAS aura is just the cherry on top. If no one on your team is planning to get this, GET THIS. It does cost more than Butterfly, but it's a team-item, and Venge IS a team player.
